Most policies specify that it is your resonsibility to file an insurance claim "as soon as you realize you have sustained a loss". With this type of wording used in a policy, often times years may pass before a loss is realized. Some policies dictate that you have to file a claim within a time period from the date of loss or that depreciation can only be recovered up to so many days after the date of loss. We previously had a contractor, can you pick up where he/she left off and continue the process?
Yes, we most certainly can pick up where your previous contractor left off. Often times, when this happens we discover additional damages that the previous contractor missed and we work to add that into your claim as well.
Our insurance claim was settled and a previous contractor installed our roof. Can we further that claim if there are additional damages?
In general speaking, the answer is yes. The answer lies within the timeframe your policy requires all depreciation to be recovered by. If you are still within your timeframe for recovering depreciation, we can absolutely reinspect the property and further your claim.
